Eastern European-focused exploration group JKX Oil and Gas said it has completed three of the fracs on its R103 well in the Ukraine.
Work began on frac operations at the Rudenkovskoye licence, in Poltava, at the begining of July, and had been expected to around 40 days to complete.
The company admitted it had been hit by technical problems and delays on the second stage of the processm, but said it was now pushing on with the next three stages and expected to be completed by the end of August.
“Operationally this complex programme has made very good progress and we now have three fracs completed successfully,” said chief executive Paul Davies.
“We are seeing variability in the rock properties as we progress along the well bore, and we may encounter sections where the pump pressure to frac the rock exceeds the safe working limit of the equipment.
“We have, therefore mobilised additional equipment which should help us partially overcome the high break-down pressures encountered.”
