Almost a tenth of OMV’s daily total oil production has been trapped in Libya since last month, due to unrest in the North African country.
The Austrian oil and gas firm confirmed today that civil unrest in the country had interrupted the company’s oil output since June 25.
In 2012, Libya’s output contributed around 30,000 barrels of oil a day to OMV’s overall 303,000 barrel production.
The company said it was closely monitoring the situation, but saw shares drop almost 2.5% today after the announcement.
OMV had reopened its operation in Tripoli in November 2011, with production increasing to 90% of its pre-conflict level last year, but the ongoing unrest in Libya has now left production shut-in.
