An Aberdeen firm has been forced to cut half its staff amid the continued challenges facing the North Sea oil and gas industry.
Kinetics Controls & Innovation Limited (KCI) reduced its workforce from 14 to seven staff earlier this month.
The company was founded in 2002 and is based in the Dyce area of Aberdeen.
KCI describes itself as a provider of chemical, hydraulic and mechanical engineering products and services specialising in “advanced integrated fully engineered solutions to optimise well
performance and production” to extend the life of mature assets in both surface and subsea.
The company confirmed the job losses which it said had been a disappointing conclusion in a challenging six months.
Since 2014 more than 65,000 jobs have been lost both directly and indirectly from the industry across the UK.
In a recent report, industry body Oil & Gas UK said by the end of 2016 as many as 120,000 roles both directly and indirectly will have been lost from sector.
Centrica revealed in August it was in consultation with both its onshore staff in Aberdeen and Morecambe over job losses.
Meanwhile, Wood Group has previously revealed it has made 10,000 job losses globally since the decline in oil price.
Earlier this month, GE Oil & Gas said it would be making a number of redundancies.
The company revealed it was in consultation with workers in Peterhead after revealing it was going to close its site in the region earlier this year.
