A fire that erupted on an oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico killed two workers and injured eight.
The state oil company Petroleos Mexico said the fire on the Abkatun A platform off the coast of the southern state of Campeche was brought under control and the installation was never abandoned.
It said one Pemex employee and a worker for a contractor died in the blaze. Six of the injured were admitted to hospital and two were treated and released.
