An investigation has been launched after a worker died on an offshore oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico.
Workers said the incident happened on a platform about 150 miles south of New Orleans in shallow waters of the Gulf.
The platform is operated by Whistler Energy II.
Robert Wichert, the company’s chief operating officer, said the firm is coordinating with federal regulators following the incident.
The employee who died is understood to have worked for Nabors Industries, a drilling-rig company.
Drilling operations have been suspended at the platform but production has been continued from a separate deck.
