Aker Solutions said it plans to make 600 further job losses from the company as it looks to streamline costs.
The company said the roles affected would be at locations across Norway, including Fornebu, Moss, Tranby and Agotnes.
Head of Aker Solutions’ Norway operations Per Harald Kongelf said:”These are tough but necessary measures to strengthen the subsea business’ competitiveness during a challenging time for our industry.”
Last year, the company reduced the capacity of its global subsea operations with about 1,000 permanent jobs.
Aker Solutions currently has around 15,000 employees in approximately 20 countries.
Around 7,000 staff members work in the subsea area.
Of these, about 25,00 in Norway, while the rest are in countries including Brazil, Angola, Malaysia, UK and USA.
Alan Brunnen, head of Aker Solutions’ subsea business, said:”We are proactively building on our strengths in the subsea area, where our competence, technology and strong customer relationships put us in a prime position to capture opportunities when the market recovers.”
In January, Aker revealed it would be making 900 job losses as it looked to “reposition” its MMO (Maintenance, modification and operations) business in Norway.
In addition, last month the company said it would be making a temporary reduction in salaries for staff in the same area of its business by 10%.
