Statoil had 21 serious emissions last year which was an increase of more than 50%, according to new reports.
The company published the latest findings in its sustainability report earlier this month.
It included a gas leak on the Gudrun platform which was estimated to be one of the largest registered emissions on the Norwegian Continental Shelf in the past 10 years.
A spokesman for Statoil said the company was willing to acknowledge it had not met its targets for the past year.
He told Norwegian publication, TU, the company is looking to prevent any emissions and would be investigating all discharges to learn and understand in order to avoid future incidents.
