Oil major BP is set to reduce its headcount in Houston by up to 500 positions.
The move was revealed in a letter the company sent to the Texas Workforce Commission.
It is understood many of the redundancies are expected to occur in June at three locations in Houston.
A spokesman said the move is part of the 4,000 additional job cuts the company announced in January.
