Aberdeenshire oil and gas well engineering consultancy Chris Dykes International (CD) has doubled its workforce – to two – after being snapped up by Danish firm WellPerform for an undisclosed sum.
Dykes stays on as technical director and principal well examiner after selling his business, with Les Browne bringing more than 30 years of experience in the industry – working for BP, Hess, Talisman, Enterprise Oil and ADTI – joining the firm as managing director.
Founded in 2002, CDI turned over about £750,000 in its last full trading year.
The company provides well examination services to a range of oil and gas operators and service companies in the UK and overseas, including Apache, Premier Oil, Centrica Energy, Petrogas, Senergy, SPD and AGR.
Its new owners aim to take advantage of “significant” growth opportunities created by the introduction of the EU offshore safety directive, which requires all member states to have existing and new wells examined by an independent competent person throughout the complete life cycle from initial design through to final abandonment.
Mr Dykes said: “This investment marks an exciting new chapter for Chris Dykes International, which will enable us to further strengthen and grow the business.”
