Engie has seen its first quarter earnings decrease by 1.7% to $4.1billion while its revenue dropped 14.3% caused by lower prices.
The French gas and power company said its current operatinf income edged up 9.4% to €2.4billion.
The firm said in a statement its revenue had fallen due to lower commodity prices and the mild temperatures in France during the first quarter.
Meanwhile, core earnings fell less than expected due to cost cutting, the restart of the Doel 3, Tihange 2 and Doel 1 nuclear reactors in Belgium in December.
Engie said it also suffered exchange losses of about €104million.
In February Engie revealed $9.6billion of writedowns on its oil and gas business.
