Halliburton has thanked Norwegian operator Statoil for its support following the death of four of its employees in a North Sea helicopter crash.
The company’s vice president in the region Charles Miller said he had met with relatives of those killed to help support them following the incident.
There were 13 people on board the flight from Statoil’s Gullfaks B platform when it crashed on Friday on a return journey to Flesland Airport.
UPDATE: All 13 victims now named by Norwegian police.
British citizen Iain Stuart, 41, from Laurencekirk was killed alongside Norwegians Behnam Ahmadi, 41, Otto Michal Vasstveit, 54 and Thomas Helland, 50.
Miller said Halliburton created a crisis team in the immediate aftermath of the crash.
He said the company was in contact with Statoil who did a “wonderful job” of providing information on an ongoing basis.
The vice president said with the support of the Norwegian company, families were taken to Bergen before he travelled there himself to meet with families to make sure they were getting the support they needed.
He has also met with colleagues of those who died, making sure they’re happy to fly in helicopters offshore.
Miller said the incident “was a tragedy” and the company was now focused on taking care of those affected.
Halliburton has 1,750 employees in Norway.
