The Lord-Lieutenant of Aberdeenshire, James Ingleby, has presented north-east company Online Valves with its Queen’s Award for Enterprise.
Dyce-based Online Valves, which manufactures all types of valves and pipe fittings for the global oil and gas industry, impressed Queen’s Awards judges with export sales growth of 840% over three years.
A total of 243 businesses across the UK won honours in this year’s Queen’s Award for Enterprise scheme, recognising their contribution to international trade, innovation and sustainable development.
Online Valves was among six north and north-east successes and 19 around Scotland.
The awards – now in their 50th year – are made annually by the Queen to acknowledge the highest levels of excellence in each category.
Winners are visited by a royal representative and presented with a crystal bowl as a mark of their achievement.
Mr Ingleby, whose past roles include spells as chairman of the Scottish Landowners Federation in the north-east and director of Aberdeen and Northern Marts, described Online Valves’ success as a “great achievement” amid the oil and gas industry downturn.
Online Valves managing director Brian Gribble said: “This is the third Queens Award that my companies have achieved following two with Online Electronics in 2008 and 2014.
“This latest is particularly satisfying due to the company being so young, commencing operations in 2012.”
Director Dave Sim added: “Receiving the Queen’s Award is a great honour that will undoubtedly raise our profile and open many new doors for us.”
