The former chief executive of Statoil is to become a director at US firm Schlumberger.
The move was revealed in a message to the US financial authorities, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Lund left his most recent position as the boss of BG Group after it was taken over by Shell.
He had previously announced he would leave the company as soon as the merger had been completed.
Schlumberger is currently led by Norwegian Paal Kibsgaard.
Lund moved to BG after he was poached by former Schlumberger boss and current chairman of BG Andrew Gould.
