Energy Minister Andrea Leadsom has insisted Prime Minister David Cameron should remain in his position despite the UK voting to leave the European Union.
The politician said she hoped he would “remain Prime Minister of this country” as she spoke to Radio 4 this morning.
She said the Prime Minister would need a team to “lead negotiations” including members of the lead campaign.
Leadsom added it was a “superb opportunity for the UK”.
She said: “I’m not surprised at all, talking to people, doing rallies and so on. It was very clear people have had enough of being told what to do, and really importantly they didn’t like all the scaremongering.”
