Engie E&P has launched an internal investigation after a vessel with a barge drifted towards the Gjoa platform in the North Sea.
The company said the incident happened on June 30th just before 2am in the morning with workers mustered into lifeboats and an emergency response was mobilised.
Production was stopped during the incident but resumed later that day.
The standby vessel the Ocean Alden managed to get control of the vessel and the situation was said to have been brought under control a few hours later.
A spokeswoman said the incident was the “most serious” to have occurred involving the platform.
The barge was estimated to be around 103metres long and 16 metres wide.
