ConocoPhillips has reportedly called for a two-year reprieve for further assessments of the Eldfisk Bravo area on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
According to reports in Norwegian media, the company had been expected to complete six wells in the Bravo structure.
However, only two of these are so far complete due to technical problems with a third well.
In a letter to the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy ConocoPhillips said: “Because of delays in drilling plans, resource interpretation and uncertainty reserve base, ConocoPhillip is not able to give a clear and rational evaluation for the further development of Bravo structure by the end of 2016.”
According to the letter, a postponement includes giving owners the ability to “mature cost effective solutions and increase understanding of the reservoir.”
The company said it will try to solve well problems that expose the project.
