The electricity substation for Statoil’s £1.5billion Dudgeon wind farm project has been installed in the North Sea.
The 1,700tonne module was lifted onto its jacket by the Oleg Strashnov crane vessel, which is operated by Dutch contractor Seaway Heavy Lifting.
Statoil has published a timelapse video of the operation. Watch below:
The 402megawatt wind farm will be located 20 miles off the coast of Norfolk.
Once completed, it will be able to provide renewable energy for 410,000 homes in the UK.
The substation will gather and transform the energy produced by the 67 turbines.
The project is gathering pace. Statoil published a video of the substation load-out operation late last week. Watch footage here.
Earlier this week, Statoil awarded two six-year contracts to energy logistics firm Peterson to provide services on Dudgeon.
Peterson will provide stevedoring and ship agency services, provisions delivery, staff transportation, as well as fuelling from its base in Great Yarmouth.
