A planned maintenance shutdown of the Kårstø gas processing plant will see more than 500 extra workers needed.
The three-week, routine workover will begin on August 27.
A total of 30 contractors are expected to participate in the massive exercise.
Aibel will have an extra 450 people working on the shutdown, Fabricom will have an extra 110 and Axess Group will have an extra 70.
The shutdown takes place every six years.
The Statoil plant is located north of Stavanger. It plays “a key role in the transport and treatment of gas and condensate (light oil) from important areas on the Norwegian continental shelf,” according to the operator.
First gas arrived on site on June, 25 1988.
An expansion project in 2005 increased daily capacity at Kårstø by 20%, to 88 million cubic metres.
