A leading provider of fire control and safety solutions has launched its new flexible pipe solution at this year’s ONS Exhibition and Conference.
Blaze Manufacturing Solutions (Blaze), which was established in 2006 to serve the global oil and gas and renewables markets has launched FLEX- FLO™, a modular system for the construction of flexible piping solutions, to the onshore and offshore market.
FLEX- FLO™ is an enhancement of the firm’s signature product, Flameshield 300™ flexible deluge pipework. Having installed Flameshield 300™ on a number of platforms, Blaze utilised its in-house expertise and experience to make significant enhancements to Flameshield 300™ to further increase safety and reduce costs, resulting in the new system.
Incorporating patent pending technology, FLEX-FLO™ has been developed primarily for firewater deluge in Asset Life Extension (ALE) and decommissioning projects, as well as new build or existing oil and gas production, chemical processing, vessels, drilling and well test heat shielding applications.
As a low maintenance, corrosion free flexible pipework solution, FLEX-FLO™ is quick to install, does not require production shutdown to construct, and provides flexibility when alterations are required.
Colin Black, international manager at Blaze, said: “It is well documented that UKCS operating costs need to reduce, yet safety levels must be maintained or even increased. The implementation of Flameshield 300™ was a game changer when first installed, however clients now require even greater savings and safety enhancements. Procurement departments would request a price per foot type quote to compare alternatives, yet we felt we could add so much more value to the client in so many ways.”
Managing director of Blaze Manufacturing Solutions, Howard Johnson, added: “Collaboration is a key component of the Wood Review and as such in collaboration with our clients, suppliers and the experienced Blaze team, we broke down each component of a flexible pipe installation and established ways to reduce cost and maintain or even increase safety, resulting in the new FLEX-FLO™ system.
“We work closely with our clients to establish existing levels of deluge protection, future needs and remedial actions to optimise firewater deluge systems. To make further improvements, we will be implementing FLEX-TECH™ personnel who will be trained, assessed and certified as FLEX-FLO™ installers. This will lead to multi-skilling and utilisation of the clients own facilities’ core rope access crew to reduce POB during installation.”
As part of its internationalisation programme, Blaze will be showcasing the new FLEX-FLO™ system at the ONS Exhibition and Conference in Norway this week (29 August to 1 September). The firm will be exhibiting on the Aberdeen City & Shire / Scottish Development International pavilion.
