Oil major Shell has been given the green-light for taking over the operatorship of Knarr and Gaupe from BG Norge.
The move comes after the company completed its takeover of BG Group earlier this year.
Approval was granted by the Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA).
Shell has applied for consent to use the facilities even though consent for their use was originally granted to the previous operator.
Guape is an oil and gas field close to the UKCS, around 12 kilometres south of Varg.
The field has been developed using two subsea wells.
Knarr is an oil field in the North Sea about 50 kilometres north-east of Snorre.
