A Norwegian politician has called for a meeting with the Petroleum Safety Authority after more than a dozen incidents involving the Goliat field this year.
Anniken Hauglie, who is Minister of Labour and Social Inclusion in the Scandinavian country, will meet to discuss with the safety body the measures which could be taken to enforce stricter
supervision of oil companies.
Hauglie said the workers on the field should be “confident” that security is a priority.
She has called for the director of the PSA to update her ministry on Goliat as well as general safety within the industry.
The PSA has previously warned about weakening security as a result of the global decline in the oil industry.
