Eni has been given until the end of the month to comply with a prohibition notice over its Liverpool Bay operating area after a hydrocarbon release.
It comes after the Italian operator was hit with the warning from the Health and Safety Executive.
In the notice, the company has been accused of failing to make “suitable and sufficient” assessments to the risk of health and safety of staff at work.
The notice highlights a number of cases where no supporting risk assessment has been offered in a number of areas.
It reads: “You have failed to make suitable and sufficient assessment of the risks to the Health and Safety of your employees whilst they are at work and of the risks to the health and safety of persons not in your employment arising out of or in connection with the conduct by you of your undertaking.”
Eni has until September 28th to comply with the order.
The Liverpool Bay development comprises of four oil and gas fields.
