Petrofac is remaining tight-lipped on reports it plans to leave Tunisia if protests over jobs continue, according to reports.
The company is also said to have warned it will end investment if the protests do not end immediately.
Since the beginning of the year, Petrofac has been forced to disrupt gas production in Tunisia because of sit-ins by people looking for jobs.
In January violent protests erupted and the army was forced to intervene to protect the company in Kerkennah Island in southern Tunisia.
Tunisian Energy Minister Hela Cheikrouhou is said to have told a local radio station:”Petrofac officials told us they will be forced to declare force majeure and resort to international courts for their losses if the production will not return immediately.”
A Petrofac representative decline to comment on the reports.
The company provides about 13% of Tunisia’s natural gas needs.
