Two companies have been marked as absent from the latest applications for awards in predefined areas (APA) In Norway.
According to reports in Norwegian media, both Maersk Oil and ExxonMobil have not put themselves forward.
A total of 33 applications have been received from firms including Shell, BP Norway, Centrica and DEA Norway.
Earlier, the Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) said there was still “significant” interest in leveraging what remains in mature basins like the North Sea.
As part of the auction, companies could apply for a total of 139,942 square kilometres.
Other companies incudes Petrolia, Repsol, Statoil, Total and Wintershall.
