A North Sea union has said it stands in solidarity with striking workers in Norway.
It comes as Industri Energi revealed 1700 workers have been let go since the industrial action began a week ago.
Wage talks have broken down between the union and the Norwegian Oil Industry Association.
Unite regional officer Tommy Campbell said: “During our recent dispute with Wood Group, it meant a lot to us when we received messages of support from Industri Energi and its members – and now is the time for us to stand with them.
“This strike has been forced on Industri Energi by employers who are trying to prop up their profits by attacking their workers. No offshore worker takes industrial action lightly – especially at a time of low oil prices – but there comes a time when union members have to stand together for fairness and dignity.
“Today we are sending strong solidarity to our Norwegian colleagues. We stand by them 100 per cent and wish them every success. We hope our support will help them to stand strong and united, so that we can ensure fair pay and conditions for all workers working in the North Sea and Atlantic.”
Earlier this month, members of Unite and RMT agreed to proposals by Wood Group.
It followed strike action over changes to pay and conditions by workers.
