The latest Baker Hughes rig count shows the number of rigs operating in the US went up again last week.
US rigs were up 12 from the previous week to 569, with oil rigs up nine to 450, gas rigs up three to 117, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at two, according to the rig count, which acts as a barometer for the drilling industry.
Year-on-year the US rig count was down 202 rigs from last year’s 771, with oil rigs down 112, gas rigs down 82, and miscellaneous rigs up two.
The US offshore rig count is 21, one worse off compared to the previous week, and down 11 rigs year-on-year.
Canada’s rig count came in at 154 – up by one week-on-week, but 31 short of last years’ figure.
