Norwegian operator Statoil said the Valemon well in the North Sea has now been drilled using the jack-up rig the West Elara.
The company said well 34/11-6S is being drilled to a depth of around 133 metres.
The jack-up is a harsh-environment unit which is owned by Seadrill subsidiary North Atlantic Drilling.
It is currently under contract with Statoil until March next year on a dayrate of around $318,000.
Statoil holds a 53.8% stake in the Valemon unit.
