The number of rigs operating in the US went up this week, the latest Baker Hughes rig count shows.
US rigs were up 20 from the previous week to 588, with oil rigs up 19 to 471, gas rigs up one to 116, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at one, according to the rig count, which acts as a barometer for the drilling industry.
Year-on-year the US rig count was down 169 from last year’s 757, with oil rigs down 93, gas rigs down 77, and miscellaneous rigs up one.
The US offshore rig count is 23, two more compared to the previous week, and down seven rigs year-on-year.
Canada’s rig count came in at 184 – up by eight week-on-week, and 18 ahead of last years’ figure.
