Sweden’s Lundin Petroleum has struck oil on its wildcat well in the Barents Sea.
The Leiv Eiriksson rig carried out the drilling of the Neiden exploration well, which is located in licence 609, about 60 kilometres north-east of the Alta discovery on the Loppa High in the southern Barents Sea.
The well was not production tested, but extensive data acquisition and sampling were carried out.
The Neiden discovery is estimated to contain between 25 and 60 million barrels of oil equivalent.
Lundin holds the operatorship and 40% of the licence.
