A UK court has ordered BP to pay a Middle Eastern bank almost $70million over a shipment of crude that was never paid for, a news report said.
BP sold a shipment of oil to the Samir refinery in Morocco in 2014, but the recipient was shut in 2015 due to financial difficulties and never made payment, Reuters reported.
That left the National Bank of Abu Dhabi with 95% of the debt.
But the London High Court has ruled that BP did not have a right to pass on the debt, and must pay $68.9million, the report said.
BP declined to comment when contacted by Reuters.
