Former officials of a now-bankrupt oil and gas firm once owned by Platinum Partners are being investigated by at least four US agencies.
According to legal filing, a group of 10 directors, officers and employees of Black Elk Energy Offshore Operations said an undisclosed number of them had incurred costs from investigations by the US Attorney’s office in New York.
They had also incurred costs from the US Securities and Exchange Commission, the Internal Revenue Service and the US Postal Service.
The men have filed a motion to request the Black Elk’s insurance policies cover costs related to those investigations and potential settlements, in addition to lawsuits and claims by the Black Elk litigation trustee and others.
