Energy sector healthcare provider Iqarus has opened a new training centre in Aberdeen for offshore medics and emergency response teams.
More than eight full-time trainer jobs will be created at the centre in Dyce, whose facilities include training rooms, classrooms and offices.
Iqarus’s site in Montrose, which used to provide offshore medic training, has now closed.
All three full-time employees who worked at the base in Montrose have transferred to the new facility in Dyce.
Ged Healy, executive director of training and development at Iqarus, said: “Our new Aberdeen centre will expand training provision for North Sea users and those working in global locations.
“The new centre is ideally positioned to benefit our offshore customer base and will enable us to further enhance our offering to include medical management, medicine in remote areas and lone traveller courses.
“As businesses launch operations into more challenging operating environments, complex risks can arise for workers and our bespoke training is designed to equip them with the appropriate level of knowledge and skills to help keep them safe.”
Iqarus was set up last year following the acquisition of a business owned by outsourcing giant Capita. The takeover was led by Mr Mitchell’s management team and MML Capital Partners.
Earlier this year, the firm announced the takeovers of Fife-based consultancy C-CHEC and remote medical support provider Exmed, and RS Occupational Health.
