A helicopter operator said last night safety checks had been carried out on helicopters, including the one involved in an offshore incident last month.
CHC said all other helicopters in its fleet had also been checked after it emerged a previous Air Service Bulletin (ASB) had been issued in November.
The Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB) is currently investigating the December 29th incident which happened as a flight tried to land on the West Franklin platform.
It had been making a short journey from the Elgin platform when the incident happened.
A source at the time told how the flight took “gouges out” of the helideck.
A spokesman for CHC confirmed the helicopter involved in the incident had been assessed by engineers immediately after November bulletin – weeks before the offshore incident was reported.
Yesterday S-92 helicopters were recalled while checks were completed after a fresh bulletin was issued late on Monday evening. The move delayed more than a hundred workers from returning home. Read more here.
