The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has approved the expansion of Shell’s gas plant at Nyhamna, Norway.
The project involves the expansion of the plant to allow the Ormen Lange field in the Norwegian Sea to increase production by 25-30 billion standard cubic meters of gas.
The export and process facilities for the Polarled pipeline, which will deliver gas from the Aasta Hansteen field, are also included.
Kalmar Ildstad of the NPD said: “This is a large and important project for improved recovery, and onshore compression is the first step. The next step is compression closer to the field.”
The Petroleum Safety Authority gave the go-ahead for the development in December.
