EnQuest confirmed today that the vessel for its flagship North Sea Kraken field had arrived on site.
The company said the Kraken floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel was hooked up to the buoy mooring system on Wednesday.
It said a full rotation test was performed to ensure the ship was securely moored.
Commissioning work on the topsides will continue, the company said.
EnQuest said it was on track for first oil from Kraken in the second quarter of 2017.
The firm holds the operatorship and 70.5% of the asset, while Edinburgh-based explorer Cairn Energy has 29.5%.
They hope to squeeze as many as 147million barrels of oil out of Kraken, which lies 218 miles north-east of Aberdeen.
Peak production of 50,000 barrels a day is expected in 2018-19.
EnQuest has been highly active in recent months.
In January, the London-listed firm bought 25% of BP’s North Sea Magnus field.
In November, EnQuest announced first oil from the North Sea Scolty/Crathes development as well as the completion of its financial restructuring.
