The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has handed Perenco an improvement notice following the death of a rig worker off the coast of Norfolk.
Tyron Jones, 43, was crushed on Perenco’s 23A gas platform in the southern North Sea on December 5, 2016.
Norfolk police said Mr Jones, from Lowestoft, was flown to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, where he passed away.
Police subsequently launched an investigation into the incident alongside HSE.
In its improvement notice, HSE said Perenco had failed to make “appropriate arrangements for the preventive and protective measures required for the unpacking and movement of equipment”.
Perenco has declined to comment.
The company previously said it was working closely with the HSE and other authorities to investigate the circumstances behind the incident.
A spokesman for Norfolk Constabulary said in December that police were treating the death as an “industrial incident”.
