Wood Group has appointed a US-based executive to lead the integration of its £2.2billion mega-merger with Amec Foster Wheeler.
Michelle McNichol, who was previously chief executive of Wood’s asset life cycle solutions (ALCS) business in the Western region, has taken on the role of executive president integration effective immediately.
Andrew Stewart, currently Wood’s president of construction, maintenance and operations (CMO) takes over Ms McNichol’s previous role.
Robing Watson, chief executive of Wood Group, said: “Since announcing the proposed acquisition of AFW, the largest Wood Group has undertaken, we have begin thinking about the structure of our business to best serve our customers. Although the potential acquisition still requires regulatory and shareholder approval, there is already much work to be done in relationship to integration planning.
“Michele’s insightful leadership and knowledge of the business will be key to a successful integration post-completion and the future success of Wood Group.
He added: “Andrew’s knowledge of Wood Group’s global business and best practices will help drive our strategy for ALCS across the Americas.”
Ms McNichol was appointed CEO of asset life cycle solutions in July 2016, having served previously as CEO of Wood Group Mustang. With more than 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, she has served in a variety of roles, most recently as executive vice president for Wood Group Mustang’s offshore, onshore, oil sands and pipeline operations worldwide.
Michele joined Wood Group Mustang in 2001 and was a key leader in the internationalisation of the offshore business as it established operations in the UK, Malaysia and Angola. Her previous roles included president of the upstream business unit and regional director for the Americas.
