An enterprising Dons fan has taken his love of the team to new depths ahead of the Scottish Cup Final.
The offshore worker, a lifelong Aberdeen fan, roped his US crewmates into the show of support for the Dandies, who take on Celtic in the Scottish Cup Final on Saturday.
So they used a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) to clip a message of support to a wellhead – more than 4,000ft under the surface of the Gulf of Mexico.
The onboard ROV camera shows the device’s claw arm holding the sign before the pilot hangs it up on the piece of subsea infrastructure.
It is believed that the ‘MadDog’ reference implies that the ROV is assigned to the oil field of the same name, 190 miles (310 km) south of New Orleans.
The offshore workers, mainly Americans, have also got behind their colleague’s favourite football team and are planning to cheer on the Dons in the cup final by watching the match with him.
