A US businessman has submitted a proposal for Donald Trump’s highly controversial wall bordering Mexico – complete with solar panels.
Las Vegas native Thomas Gleason of Gleason Partners is said to be the man behind the idea.
According to reports, the solar powered wall – designed to curb illegal immigration from the south – would cost around $6million per mile to build.
But it would generate two megawatts of electricity per hour – in theory paying for itself in 20 years.
Gleason’s idea is to build the panels into the south facing side of the wall to maximise exposure to the sun.
The heat and slick nature of the panels would also make it difficult for would be illegals to clamber over, Gleason claims.
