Three men have died after a boiler room blast on the Odebrecht Oil & Gas (OOG) drillship Norbe VIII.
The drillship was working under contract with Petrobras on the Marlim field in the Campos basin when the tragedy unfolded.
The alarm was raised at 8am on Friday. Ericson Nascimento de Farias, aged 29, died on the Friday followed by 44-year-old Jorge Luiz Damiao on Saturday and 33-year-old Eduardo Aragao de Lima, who succumbed to his injuries yesterday. One other worker was wounded in the blast, but later released from hospital.
Activities remained suspended as an investigation is carried out into the cause of the fire.
The drillship is one of a six-strong fleet on contract to Petrobras. Its 10-year lease includes a $381,000 day rate.
