Sound Energy today reported a gas payback for its Badile exploration well in Italy.
However, the operator cautioned investors that “gas shows, despite being a positive initial indication, should not be considered conclusive until drilling and logging is complete”.
Drilling reached teh primary Conchodon dolomitic reservoir target at 4,375m measured depth (MD). Significant gas shows were encountered at 4,375m MD. Gas chromatograph data indicated C1 (methane) to C5 (pentane) gas components.
Drilling in the 8.5″ hole section has now been temporarily paused, ahead of running the 7″liner, after which drilling will continue to the bottom of the reservoir.
Sound Energy filed an application for the Badile permit in January 2006 and the permit was awarded in March 2010.
In July 2016, Sound Energy announced that Schlumberger have agreed to fund 30% of the Moirago-1dir exploration well, for an option to acquire a 20% net interest in the Badile licence, at any point following the declaration of a discovery.
On 28th November 2016, Sound Energy entered into a binding agreement with Pergemine for the use of the 3000 HP EMSCO C3 No.20 rig for the drilling of the Badile exploration well.
Drilling is expected to conclude in the coming months.
It’s thought Badile contains 178 Bcfe (106 Bcf of gas plus 12 MMbbl condensate).
