The world’s largest spar-platform has arrived off Norway, where it is being put in an upright position.
Statoil said 50 million litres of water was being pumped into tanks in the hull to make the platform rise.
It will then be towed to Digernessundet for further operations.
Aasta Hansteen is Norway’s first spar platform.
Its substructure is 200metres long, 50metres in diameter and weighs about 46,000 tonnes.
The platform is slated to start production from the Aasta Hansteen gas field in the Norwegian Sea late in 2018.
