A crew member of an offshore supply vessel was airlifted to hospital in Lerwick by a UK rescue helicopter last night.
The helicopter was sent to the vessel from Sumburgh after the UK Coastguard was alerted at 9pm.
The man had fallen ill while working aboard a Danish vessel in UK waters, about 100nm east of Sumburgh.
He was winched onto the chopper at about 10pm.
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) said the man was not in a critical condition.
The MCA added: “Had he been critically ill the helicopter would have re-routed to Norway which was the closest tertiary hospital.”
