Nigeria has vowed to scale up its military response to the Boko Haram insurgency after oil workers were abducted.
Searches for the missing prospecting team are still ongoing.
They were kidnapped in the north-east Lake Chad Basin on Tuesday.
A subsequent rescue bid left 37 people dead, including members of the team and rescuers.
Three kidnapped members of the oil team later appeared in a video, verified by news agency Reuters.
Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has ordered the military to step up efforts to combat the insurgency in order to “maintain a strong, effective control of the situation and secure lives and property”, Reuters reports.
Osinbajo has been in command since President Muhammadu Buhari left the country in May to seek medical treatment in the UK.
The statement issued on Sunday said Osinbajo had ordered the “continuation of search and rescue missions to locate and ensure the freedom of all remaining abducted persons” following the kidnapping of oil workers.
