The operator of a north-east gas processing terminal has won an award for high standards of safety.
Teeside based px group (ALLCORR) got a gold award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) for its work at the North Sea terminal, situated between Peterhead and Fraserburgh.
It also received a gold award for the gas fired Fellside Combined Heat and Power Station, in Cumbria – which provides steam and power to the Sellafield site and electricity to the National Grid.
The RoSPA Awards scheme is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas. Judges consider entrants’ occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement. The awards are now in their 61st year.
Mark Kenrick, director of safety and risk management with px group, said: “Our objective is that we operate the plants under our care with zero harm to people, the environment or the plants themselves and our teams put a huge amount of effort into achieving this.
“This hard work has delivered thousands of hours of safe operations which, in turn, has been recognised by RoSPA.
“Credit for these awards goes to all our employees up and down the UK who, every day, apply the working practices which have kept them and the areas in which they work, safe.”
