This may seem like footage from an old B-movie but this is what happened back in the Autumn of 1955 in the US state of Indiana when Standard Oil’s refinery caught fire.
The blaze quickly spread, going from tank to tank and engulfing the town in smoke and flames.
This, rather dated, British Pathe news report from the time shows the height of the drama.
The fire raged for eight days and damaged homes and businesses as well as the refinery infrastructure.
Two people were killed, dozens more injured and more than 1,000 people had to be evacuated from their homes.
