The Press and Journal celebrated the resilience of the North Sea oil and gas industry last night at their annual Gold Awards ceremony.
Hundreds of people gathered at the Marcliffe Hotel in Aberdeen to watch nine worthy winners collect their prestigious gongs.
And alongside those shortlisted, Sir Ian Wood was welcomed into the industry Hall of Fame – an accolade sponsored by Aberdeen Standard Investments.
The Gold Awards, in their third year, recognise the companies and individuals who continue to forge a path ahead for the sector, despite varying headwinds.
Richard Neville, editor-in-chief of the Press and Journal, said: “The gold awards have yet again been a great success, celebrating the best the North Sea has to offer during some of the most challenging times in its history.
“The levels of ingenuity and talent that are spread throughout the offshore workforce is clear to see with all of the entries tonight and I congratulate every single one, not just the winners.
“These awards show that the North Sea industry has adapted to face its challenges head on – and is preparing for a positive future in the north-east.”
Guests were treated to an eventful evening including delicious food and after-dinner entertainment.
The night’s first award was presented to Leanne Brown, of Sparrows Group who outshone three other competitors in the apprentice award category.
Swire Oilfield Services and BP were recognised for their efforts in health and safety. Enpro Subsea took home the innovation award for product innovation while Peterson scooped the innovation award for sector innovation.
EnerQuip was named small company of the year while Chevron was recognised as the best of the larger firms.
Martin Gilbert, chief executive of Standard Life Aberdeen, sponsors of the event, congratulated all the finalists and the overall winners.
