US Secretary of Energy Rick Perry has announced that the first-ever shipment of US crude oil has arrived in India.
Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit with President Donald Trump, Indian companies ramped up purchases of US crude.
“I am proud of the collaborative work between the United States and India that will increase jobs, economic stability, and national security in both countries,” said Secretary Perry.
“This event represents the growing energy partnership between the U.S. and India, and I look forward to exploring new opportunities to expand the role of reliable, responsible, and efficient energy sources with our allies.”
The shipment was loaded at the Saint James, Louisiana and Freeport, Texas terminals and was received in Odisha, India by Indian Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan.
More shipments will follow in coming months.
