The Sparrows Group has strengthened its operations within the Middle East in securing two multi-million crane contracts with Dubai Petroleum.
The larger of the two contracts had been held by the company for 14 years until earlier this year and has now been re-awarded.
The biggest award is expectation to provide five-year’s worth of crane maintenance to 76 cranes across all of Dubai Petroleum’s offshore fields.
The second contract, a three year deal, is for the provision of rental cranes to augment Dubai Petroleum’s intervention activities.
Sparrows, who hold a number of Aberdeenshire-based operations, are a global engineering service and safety provider in the areas of lifting, mechanical handling and cable and pipe lay.
The agreements also mean dedicated technical personnel will be working on-site, including a dedicated crane operator instructor.
Stewart Mitchell, Sparrows chief executive officer, said: “Sparrows has a successful history with Dubai Petroleum, having worked with the operator for a number of years.
“It’s great to be able to get back to work on the maintenance contract and the addition of the new crane rental project is testament to our team’s experience, knowledge and skills. We look forward to continuing to implement the high quality and safety standards we are recognised for across Dubai Petroleum’s assets.”
