One of the top bosses at Australian engineering services giant WorleyParsons has ruled out job cuts in its new UK North Sea operations.
Mark Trueman, planning and investor relations director, said there was no prospect of redundancies in the wake of the group’s recent £228million acquisition of Amec Foster Wheeler (AFW) Oil and Gas UK.
He added: “We acquired AFW UK for the opportunity to grow the business.
“There is minimal geographic overlap between the two companies, so no current plans for any staff reductions as a result of the acquisition.”
WorleyParsons aims to become a leading player in the UK North Sea market following the completion of its acquisition of AFW UK on October 9.
AFW UK employs more than 3,000 people across seven offices in the UK and the Middle East, and has nearly half a century of experience in oil and gas exploration. It represents the majority of AFW’s former UK upstream oil and gas operations, which were divested to allay competition concerns in relation to Wood Group’s £2.2billion takeover of AFW.
WorleyParsons chief executive Andrew Wood inists the firm has a bright future in the UK North Sea.
